THIS IS THE WEBSITE OF  DURHAM CITY FAIR TRADE PARTNERSHIP

The Fairtrade Foundation awarded Fairtrade status to Durham City on 21st May 2007. Below, the then Mayor of the City of Durham, Cllr. Bob Wynn, accepts the Certificate on behalf of the people of Durham from Kathryn Sygrove, the Partnership Chair. With us are  a selection of our members and the former Mayor, Cllr. Jeff Lodge, who supported us in his year in office.

To maintain the status, we have submitted a renewal bid in June 2008. All being well, this should see Durham City maintain its prestigious status for another two years. This involved increasing the range of Fairtrade usage in as many organisations in Durham as possible, and we will be expected to make continued progress in the future. Browse the Fairtrade Foundation website (links page) to find out about the criteria required !

We  have coordinated our information-spreading by linking with many other websites eg Durham County Council; the City of Durham Council and the Fairtrade Foundation. We are pleased to  publicise the County Durham Fairtrade Directory (see links page) which lists many outlets in this area.

We want to provide as much easily-accessible information about Fairtrade/ Fair Trade as possible, to encourage many more local shoppers, workplaces, churches, schools, retail and catering outets, community organisations and businesses to join us in supporting the Fair Trade movement. Enjoy our website! If you have difficulties, or feel information is missing which could help you, use the Feedback page and we will  try to accommodate your request.
